Cyrus Grout is a researcher at the Center for Education Data & Research at the University of Washington, Seattle. His work over the past decade has focused on using administrative data to do research that informs policy and practice related to the teacher labor market. Topics of work in this area include studies on the implications of pension reform, leveraging student teaching to improve workforce quality, the links between information collected during the hiring process and teacher performance, and what teacher application data can tell us about how the supply of applicants varies across school districts and teacher preferences for working in different types of schools. His work is regularly published in peer-reviewed journals such as: Education Finance and Policy, Economics of Education Review, Educational Researcher, ILR Review, and Regional Science and Urban Economics.
