Andrew Simon is an assistant professor of public policy and economics at the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia. He completed his PhD from the University of Michigan and was previously a Postdoctoral Scholar and the University of Chicago and the Australian National University. His research focuses on higher education finance and policy. He studies both the role of student and institutional behavior for determining human capital accumulation and variation in the return on investment across fields of study. His work has looked at differences across fields of study in: the costs of educating students; how students and institutions respond to changes in labor demand for certain skills; how students and institutions respond to changes in state funding; and student loan repayment.
