Kevin Shih

Kevin Shih is an associate professor in the Department of Economics at UC Riverside and a nonresident scholar at the Claudio X. González Center for the United States and Mexico. As a labor economist specializing in immigration economics, his research explores the effects of international students on U.S. higher education, the labor market impacts of skilled immigrants through the H-1B visa program, and the influence of DACA on educational attainment among undocumented youth. His research has appeared in leading academic journals, including the Review of Economics and Statistics, AEJ: Economic Policy, and the Journal of Labor.

In addition to his academic appointments, Shih serves as a research fellow at the IZA Institute for Labor Economics, an external affiliate of the UC Davis Global Migration Center, and a Special Sworn Status researcher for the U.S. Census Bureau. He earned his doctorate in economics from UC Davis and his bachelor’s degree in economics and literature from Claremont McKenna College.
